Urgent Agenda
The NHL Season will begin October 1st, 2009…
1.) Drop Date – Monday September 7, 2009 - NOON
2.) Draft Date – Thursday September 24, 2009 8:00pm @ Compass Promotions Office.
I need suggestions…and help with these dates…please post on the forum whatever dates are best for you!
What happened? What took so long? Why did they hack us?
To make a very long story short…we were hacked…our original (back end of our) site was a very old and outdated and very susceptible to malicious attacks…Lifetimepool as you all might not know gets thousands and thousands of unique visitors a month and could be found on almost every search engine…this would be appealing to hackers to detour visitors to their own malicious sites…our hosting (“godaddy”) company believes that our servers may have been compromised on their end…Regardless, our site(s) were attacked with “iframe injections” that attempted to forward any visitors to suspicious sites…however their attempts only succeed to corrupt our files…all our *index*.html and *index*.php files were infected, not to mention our mysql database, surprisingly enough a site like ours had about 3500 files infected…I tried to manually repair the files, but without any success I decided to upgrade us to the newest secure and upgradable version and was fortunate enough to restore the most important aspects of our site (news, forum, and users).
So, what’s the lesson? MAKE BACK UP’S…MAKE BACK UP’S…MAKE BACK UP’S…because that would have saved so much heart ache!
Site Development
- Messaging – Our old messaging system is no longer supported and I was forced to move to a new messaging system…it is similar and has a few more options…old messages were not retrievable…
- Site Layout – I will have to redesign a new layout…for now we will have this basic layout…I hope to have something soon…sorry for the inconvenience…
- Suggestions…comments…questions…please send them all my way…there is a lot of potential with the new site…almost any idea is possible!
