The 2013-2014 deadline was one of the busiest deadlines in recent years with a record amount of players being traded. The Canucks pulled away from the Coyotes in the championship race with more then a few deals, while others tried to tweak for the upcoming season. In the process of the dealings, a deal between the Canucks and Islanders as been determined to be illegal.

In the above deal, J. Toews returned to the Islanders in less then 1 calander year. The trade violates the rule as J. Toews is being traded back to the Islanders from the Canucks in less than one year from the deal they consummated on March 16, 2013 by 15 days.

A vote to veto will not be required as this is a clear violation of league rules. As listed in the rules, under “Trading” subsection 10: “No players can be traded "on loan". If a player is traded from the team, they cannot be "traded" back from that same team for minimum one calendar year.”
In conclusion, Deadline Deal #6 between Islanders and Canucks is VOID.
