VETOED!! — WHAT JUST HAPPENED??? PART II

On November 20, 2013, the following trade was made between the Islanders and Wolfpack:

Islanders Receive:

R. Nash (F)
J. Eberle (F)
T. Ennis (F)
J. Faulk (D)
T. Brodie (D)
P. Rinne (G)
2nd Round Pick

For

Wolfpack Receive:

A. Kopitar (F)
B. Saad (F)
P. Elias (F)
C. Franson (D)
M. Streit (D)
Z. Dalpe (F)

There was a motion to veto the trade made by the Leafs and seconded by the Blackhawks.

A vote to veto was not required as this is a clear violation of league rules.  As listed in the rules, under “Trading” subsection 10:

“No players can be traded "on loan". If a player is traded from the team, they cannot be "traded" back from that same team for minimum one calendar year.”

The trade violates the rule as three players in the proposed deal are being traded back to the Islanders from the Wolfpack in less than one year from the deal they consummated on February 2, 2013.

On 02 FEBRUARY 2013. POSTED IN TRADES 2012 - 2013

Wolfpack Recieve:
J. Eberle (F)
L. Eriksson (F)
P. Rinne (G)
M. Johansson (F)
TJ. Brodie (D)
2nd Round Pick (Islanders)

FOR

Islanders Recieve:
T. Seguin (F)
K. Shattenkirk (D)
C. Crawford (G)
T. Gilbert (D)
T. Pleckanec (F)

Void trades are frowned upon by the league, and unlike the Islanders, this is the Wolfpacks first offense.  Regardless, no penalty will be issued to either team for violating league rules.

Conclusion: The deal is VOID.  All players will be returned to original rosters.
