A vote to veto the deal between Roma and Leafs on the deadline day, which saw A. Hemsky traded for A. Burrows and 1st Round Pick has been successful. The deal is not valid based on being submitted past the deadline. A veto was declared with 66.6% of the teams voting in favor of voiding the trade.
Few Comments from various teams:
- other teams in contention left and were unaware of any pending trades; bad time to pull back a small trade given what has happened in the past and set the norm this way...but the stardard has to be set.
- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DEAL, TOO LATE
- Sorry guys nothing personal but this keeps happening year after year. We are making rules on the fly and the integrity of the pool is slipping, its not the direction it should be taking.
- this vote can create precedence that soft deadlines are unacceptable and ruin the integrity of the pool. Previous deadline deals could and should have been put to vote, and possibly veto'd, but they weren't...that is not an excuse to allow another.
- Miss the deadline and trade is no good, no? Rules are rules...henceforth all deadlines should be held hard and fast to.
- "the deadline (was) becoming a suggestion"
- With a soft deadline I can see us having tons of these veto votes in the future -- my vote is No deal and hard deadline going forward
- If I had to vote again it would be the same for any teams involved...not based on how I feel (about a certain team).
