RULES AND REGULATIONS

Overview

This is a lifelong keeper pool, therefore once a player is acquired by a team they are exclusively in the possession of the owner. These players can be sold, traded or retained for the life of the player. A combination of players point scoring will determine an annual winner of the Lifetimepool Championship.

Collective Bargaining Agreement

  1. The CBA is the set of rules by which our pool will abide by, and can only be reviewed outside of regular season.
  2. Changes and exceptions to the CBA require a minimum 60% approval of all team owners. All decisions taken with minimum 60% approval can only be undone by minimum 60% approval.
  3. For issues not covered in the CBA, all General Managers (GMs) must be consulted, and a minimum 60% approval is always required. In the case of a dispute between two GMs on an issue not covered by the CBA, the decision is taken to vote by all GMs.

Entrance Fee

  1. LifeTimePool.com annual entrance fee will be $130 each team for the season and $20 for Lifetimpool Playoff Cup. A total of $150 per team is due each season with mandatory payment at by the draft. 
    • The prize distribution will be the same; “Annual prizes to the best competitors will be distributed as 60% to the winner, 30% to second place and 10% to third” and one Lifetimepool Playoff Cup winner.

Rosters

  1. Rosters originate with 30 players and 3 goalies
  2. Roster may increase to any size through approved player transactions
  3. A roster size may not go below 19 players, including at least one goalie

Scoring

  1. The Lifetimepool Championship is determined on a cumulative scoring system which is based on regular season player point totals.
  2. The point system per player will be the following:
    1. Goal = 1pt
    2. Assist = 1pt
    3. Win = 2 pts (goalie)
    4. OTL = 1 pt (goalie)
  3. The combined scoring points for the top 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 1 goalie will determine a Lifetimepool team’s total point.
  4. The Lifetimepool team with the largest cumulative point total will be the annual champion.
  5. In the event of a Tie at seasons end, The 13th forward would count first to decide the winner, if there was still a tie, a 14th forward would then count. If a tie was still imminent, 7th defenseman would count.  This follows our pool with 2:1 ratio of forwards to defenseman, this will continue until a winner is decided.

Awards

  1. Annual prizes to the best competitors will be distributed as 60% to the winner, 30% to second place and 10% to third

Player Drafting

  1. General Rules
    1. Players available for draft may be:
      1. Any age
      2. Participate in any league
      3. Play at position
      4. The maximum time allowed to provide a pick is 3 minutes, if a pick is not provided in three minutes your pick will be temporarily forfeited. The team will be required to pick a player (or have one arbitrarily assigned) at the end of the draft.
      5. Every team owner or representative must be available on the draft day to make their selections. If the team cannot communicate on the draft day justifiably he will be able to fill his roster with the remaining undrafted players at the end of the draft. Teleconferencing, instant messaging, and web-conferencing are all acceptable alternatives for communication on draft days.
      6. Draft days will be determined by the general managers before start of the regular season.
  2. Annual Drafting
    1. Annually each team will be awarded 5 draft picks per season. Picks may be traded or retained for the draft.
    2. Draft position is determined based on the previous year’s regular season positions. The lower in standings the higher the draft positions each round. The last place team of the previous regular season will be granted with the first draft pick of each round.
    3. For every draft pick that a team possess they must drop a player from their roster into the public pool of players.
    4. If you trade all your draft picks you are not required to expose or drop any players.
    5. A goalie may only be drafted if the team previously submitted a goalie as a drop player.
  3. Expansion Drafts
    1. Expansion drafts will follow expansion rules.
  4. Other Drafts (including Dispersal drafts, Goalies drafts)
    1. Draft order will be awarded by a weighted lottery based on previous seasons
    2. On an expansion year, the expansion team will have the heaviest weighted lottery position.
    3. The following rounds will be in a snake format; with the last team picking in a round will pick first the following.
  5. Draft Schedule
    1. The draft order will be the following:
    2. Expansion Draft (if necessary)
    3. Regular Season Draft
    4. Other Drafts (if necessary)

Trading

  1. The trading deadline is the drop of the puck at the first face off at the NHL All-star game, or any date arbitrarily decided by the general managers at the beginning of the season.
  2. Once trades are agreed upon by the teams, the trade must be communicated to the administrator by all parties. Text messaging, instant messaging, emails, telephone and documentation in writing are all acceptable forms of communication to present your trade.
  3. Once a trade is submitted it will be posted to the public as pending deal.
  4. If there is an overwhelming response due to an unethical trade, the option to veto the trade through a vote is available to any team. Based on league rules the trade will be voted on if requested by any team, and may be overturned if there is a minimum 60% vote by the general managers. The trade will be considered void.
  5. The trade will be posted for three days as pending, before it becomes official. Though transfers of players and points will be immediately.
  6. Trading players will include the complete transfer of all points accumulated that season.
  7. Trades can be made for draft picks
  8. There may not be any "conditional" deals made based on future uncertainties, all offers must be complete upon submission.
  9. Future considerations may be included in a deal as only a player to be named later date.
    1. Future Considerations must be submitted to the league by a league imposed deadline.

10. No players can be traded "on loan". If a player is traded from the team, they cannot be "traded" back from that same team for minimum one calendar year.

11. Draft picks may be traded without any restrictions to any team at any time.

Selling a Player

  1. The transfer of players for money can be made only in the off-season.  A 10% transaction fee will be applied to the sale. The selling team must send the funds immediately to Lifetimepool for the deal to be announced. The funds will be applied to the 1st place prize.**

Selling a Team

  1. A team could be sold to anyone for any amount of money
  2. An application from the interested manager must be submitted and upon league approval the transaction could be consummated.
  3. If the league does not authorize the applicant then the selling will not be approved.

Expansion

  1. The league requires a brief application from every prospective expansion team outlining their intentions.
  2. All existing teams will be required to vote on expansion. If there is a minimum 60% approval the team will be granted expansion rights.
  3. Expansion Options:
    1. Expansion Option 1:
      1. Expansion teams will be required to pay 200 LTP expansion fee to enter the pool.  This does not include the annual fee.
      2. The expansion roster must be filled with 30 players and 3 goalies
      3. Their rosters will be filled with a combination of regular season draft picks, expansion drafts and roster drafting from a pool of undrafted players.
      4. The expansion team will be given the last pick in every regular season draft round.
      5. In the expansion draft the expansion team will be able to select players from the existing teams. Every existing team can protect up to 20 players and 2 goalies; the remaining players are available to the expansion teams to draft from.
      6. Once a players is taken from a team, they can protect an additional 3 players on their roster
      7. Every team can lose a maximum of 2 players in the expansion draft, and will be compensated a draft pick for every lost player.
      8. Once the regular season draft and expansion draft is complete, the remaining roster spots must be filled with updrafted players until they reach their roster size.

2. Expansion Option 2

  1. Expansion team does not have an expansion fee
  2. The expansion roster must be filled with 30 players and 3 goalies
  3. Their rosters will be filled with a combination of regular season draft picks, and roster drafting from a pool of undrafted players.
  4. The expansion team will be given the last pick in every regular season draft round.
  5. Once the regular season is complete, the remaining roster spots must be filled with updrafted players until they reach their roster size.

Lifetimepool Cup

  1. Is an annual challenge amongst LTP teams during the NHL playoffs
  2. Point system is the equivalent to the existing rules
  3. Every team will select their available 6 forwards, 4 defenceman, and 1 goalie from their roster as their playoff team.  There are no substitutions or exceptions for rosters that do not have enough available players, and will be required to play short handed.
  4. The point system per player will be the following:
    1. Goal = 1pt
    2. Assist = 1pt
    3. Win = 2 pts (goalie)
    4. OTL = 1 pt (goalie)
  5. The team with the most points will be awarded and a prize.
  6. In the event of a Tie at seasons end, The 13th forward would count first to decide the winner, if there was still a tie, a 14th forward would then count. Disciplinary Action

  1. Every team is subject to disciplinary action due to unethical actions resulting in harm or loss of reputation to the league.
  2. The General Managers have the right to vote just disciplinary action if deemed necessary.
  3. Any team who submits their draft drop players, or future considerations beyond the required deadline will have all their draft picks moved to the end of their rounds.

Exiting the League

Once you are a member of Lifetimepool, there are only three ways to exit the pool:

1. The exiting team will select any 3 players from their roster to have auctioned at the LTP draft.

  •    All teams will be involved in a live auction for each individual player. The highest bidder will receive the player. The highest bidder will need to provide a drop player to return to the exiting teams roster. 
  • All auction funds will be given to the exiting team minus a 10% LTP Marketplace transaction fee that will be added to the upcoming seasons 1st place prize. 
  • The league will take control of the team until a new owner is recruited. A franchise fee may or may not be applied to the new owner.

2. Sell your entire franchise to another person. The league has to approve the new owner with a vote, and may deny a franchise being sold

3. Death

Third-Party Income

  1. Any income generated from Lifetimepool beyond these league rules will be distributed to its members either in infrastructure, prizes or payments.
  2. Any decision for the distribution of income will be voted by the general managers under league rules.

Grandfather Rules:

Inaugural Year Draft Rules – 2001

  1. Team draft order is randomly drawn on the draft day.
  2. Order will proceed from first to last, then last to first
  3. 30 players are to be drafted per team (note that top 12 forwards and top 6 defense will be used toward your team points)
  4. Any professional player, from any league, is available to be drafted (etc. NHL, OHL, QMJHL)

Goalie Introduction Rules - 2006

  1. Draft order will be awarded by a weighted lottery based on previous seasons
